B-Town Cat Fights

Ever since ever, there have been stories, column-inches, gossips, scandals in Bollywood about apparent "cat fights". Most of the time they are made up of course. There have only been a few confirmed spats in the past i.e. Sridevi vs Jaya, Madhuri vs. Sridevi, Karisma vs. Raveena etc...

These days it seems the media are so bored, that they create stories out of thin air about these alleged brawls between the likes of Kareena-Priyanka-Katrina-Deepika. And I think that sometimes these made-up headlines are in fact the cause for some rift between all the UBDs out there. The media needs to be more responsible. If they want to make stories up, then we not let it be positive?

Just look at the promo of 'No One Killed Jessica'; Rani and Vidya have been joint at the hip, laughing and joking their way through 'Koffee With Karan' and even going as far as sucking each other's thumbs on camera. This is a clear case of female solidarty. Why is most of the coverage negative?

Recently we saw Salman Khan's 'Being Human' campaign bring together a whole host of UBDs: Karisma Kapoor, Sushmita Sen, Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta, Kareena Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif. All the footage from the event clearly showed all the girls hanging out as one big gang and they were having fun. I don't understad why we constantly hear of "cold wars" happening between Deepika and Katrina or Priyanka. Not only is it hugely un-entertaining but also it gives out the wrong vibe for the community.

Who's going to win?
I'm talking about the Best Actress Award of course.
Kajol and Aishwarya have won it multiple times.
Vidya and Kareena won the trophy once each.
Anushka is the only won in the list that hasn't won, she was also nominated 2 years ago for her debut in 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi'. She has a great record: 3 films, 2 nominations.
Poor Priyanka - her magnificent performance in 'Anjaana Anjaani' was sadly overlooked this year. Not to worry, I'm sure she'll be back next year with 'Saat Khoon Maaf'.

Now to the Best Female Playback Singer and it's a tough one.

Sunidhi deserves it for her consistency throughout the year with lots of mega hits from "Dhanno" [Housefull] to "Sheila" [Tees Maar Khan] and from "Udi" [Guzaarish] to "Bin Tere" [I Hate Luv Storys]. However Shreya seems to be a Filmfare favourite, or will it be newcomer Mamta with her massive hit?

UBD's Bollywood-Bytes : 08-Jan-2011

Kareena Kapoor
Bebo has been topping almost all of the internet polls of the actress that will have the most successful 2011. After all she is "working with all the Khans this year". Shah Rukh Khan (Ra.One), Aamir Khan (Untitled), Salman Khan (Bodyguard), Saif Ali Khan (Agent Vinod), Imran Khan (Short Term Shaadi).

Asin
The 'Ghajini' girl makes a comeback this year opposite Salman Khan in Anees Bazmee's 'Ready' due for release in May. The 25-year old actress kicked-started her B-town career with one of the highest grossing films of all time opposite Aamir Khan (Ghajini, 2008), but since then has only been seen in the Vipul Shah super flop 'London Dreams' (2009) in which her role was reportedly cut. Let's hope things turn around for her this year.

               Priyanka Chopra
Little Miss Piggy has topped a poll of the Indian celebrity with most fans online beating tough competition from Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. La Chopra is a keen Tweeter and has countless Facebook fan pages.

Rekha
The diva of all divas was seen this week at the Mumbai premier of 'No One Killed Jessica' and was papped with old pal Rani, and huge fan Vidya - the leading ladies of the film.

Vidya Balan
"I just need your love and best wishes" she said to fans on Bollywod Hungama just moments ago, "Go and watch NOKJ" - I will be watching it this weekend for sure. Be sure to come back and read my review.

Kangana Ranaut
The 23 year old has decided to quit the fashion industry before she even really started. The National Award winner was due to launch her own fashion range after dabbling in the wardrobe department in two of her films, but the workload seems to have put her off, and she is not back to concentrating on movies again.

Karisma Kapoor
The mother of two has been absent from our screens for over 5 years now, but she is reportedly reading scripts and is ready to sign a film as soon as she gets a good offer.
